The role:

There’s a lot of ways to help save the planet, some are more practical than others - and these guys are proud to be doing it in the most obvious way - recycling.
They’ve been doing it for a long time, so they know what they’re doing and they’ve got a good crew to get it done - but due to an internal promotion, they need a Branch Manager to help them keep performing in the top of their industry.
In a nutshell, it works a bit like a reverse supply chain; these guys buy from NZ customers, process the scrap metal and then export it internationally for recycling - so, do you want to help them do what they do best toward saving the planet?

  • Show your personality - it’s important

  • A strong customer focus, utilising “a bit of banter” and a positive attitude to build relationships.  Having a proven track record of knowing how to build strong relationships with all types of people from tradies and auto wreckers through to locals who have cleared out their garage

  • Previous experience in a Branch Manager/Supervisor role, having experience with running a budget, cash management and how to close out the POS at the end of the day.

  • Health and Safety is an important part of the industry, so you need to be comfortable delivering toolbox talks and basic HS training

  • Planning and having the team setup and sorted for the day with tasks to complete, keep things tidy, and to reduce downtime between customers is your first priority and how you get the win.Planning and having the team setup and sorted for the day with tasks to complete, keep things tidy, and to reduce downtime betwee

  • You need to be fit, active and comfortable in your high-viz and safety boots as there are times you will need to be ‘hands-on’ in this role

  • You are sensible and smart with a great sense of humour and the ability to exercises good judgement.

  • You will need great negotiation skills and be quick to learn new things. Being able to relate to a variety of personalities and cultures is important in a customer-facing role

  • MS Office experience required for writing reports and general administration (email, Excel, etc.)

  • Attention to detail and accuracy are important, as is flexibility and adaptability

  • Solution focused and enjoy problem solving to find positive outcomes for your customers, the yard and your team.

  • Communication is important - so you must have excellent spoken and written English language skills

  • A forkhoist license and metal recycling experience would be a huge advantage, but not necessary if you can learn

 

What you can expect:

  • An hourly rate (negotiated) between $30 - $35 per hour (flat rate)

  • 100 hour fortnight so one week Monday to Saturday (53 hours) and the second week Tuesday to Saturday (47 hours) - Saturdays are only 8-1pm
